Goldray Wins Most Innovative Decorative Glass Project: Exterior from Glass Magazine!

The architectural glass industry is comprised of many talented and innovative companies that continue to push the envelope of what is possible to achieve with glass. We love working within this industry, as it inspires and challenges us to strive for excellence as a decorative glass manufacturer. Recently, Glass Magazine announced the winners of the 2016 Glass Magazine Awards, and Goldray Glass is honored to receive the award for the Most Innovative Decorative Glass Project – Exterior! “There were very creative solutions offered in all categories,” says Glass Magazine Award Judge John R. Stephenson, senior architect, BRPH Atlanta, brph.com. “Many of the entrants have produced remarkable projects and should be congratulated for both the creative design, implementation and fortitude.”.

Goldray’s award-winning project is the Winnipeg Women and Newborn Hospital in Manitoba. This center of medical excellence is LEED Silver certified and incorporates sustainable elements throughout, including a fresh air circulation system and a solarium with a living green wall. Goldray Glass created the exterior glass for this project, using a combination of vision and spandrel glass panels to form a mural of a forest. The glass mural was created using Goldray’s Digital Ceramic Printing process, where ceramic ink is applied directly onto the glass, similar to the way an inkjet printer prints onto paper. The completed exterior solution portrays a seamless vision and works to support the overall natural and sustainable theme of the building. Goldray is truly honored to be recognized for our achievements and we would also like to thank our partners, as this project wouldn’t have been possible without their hard work and dedication. Firstly, the two architecture firms, Architecuture49 and Parkin Architects, that worked together to develop the creative design concept and façade design. Our local glazing partner, Ferguson Glass, who we have collaborated with on many projects over several decades. As well as, Ellis Don, the general contractor, rounding out the team that worked on what turned out to be an iconic installation.

Congratulations to all on your hard work and ingenuity, all award-winning projects will be featured in the July 12th edition of e‐glass weekly, the July 2016 issue of Glass Magazine and on GlassMagazine.com. We look forward to continuing to work alongside these talented companies in redefining what is possible in the architectural glass industry.
